... this morning (first day back for most) to total incompetence, brought to you by the good burghers of Northern Rail - who won all sorts of awards in 2007 - God knows what they were up against ... they'll win sod all for 2008 ! yes this was Mossley Station at 0715 this morning ...
If interested - they're putting some kind of manager "in the firing line" on Victoria Station tomorrow evening between 1600 and 1800 to 'take note of the customer ideas/suggestions' etc - all volunteers for the lynch mob make yourselves known ...

You probably know this already Smiffy but I wasn't aware until I read the bottom of the posters but cancelled/non-running trains aren't included in their performance/stroke efficiency statistics.
That's awfully convenient for a company that pulls services at the drop of a hat.
But then again they're run by First, a company that's had no qualms raising its own bus fares by nearly 10% percent this week - tossers! As are GMPTE whose price hike on their saver tickets means that in two years they've gone up over 33%.
Agree with the comment about First - some fares in Sheffield have risen by more than 10%. A fare of 70 pence (for 3 stops - but it does take you up a very steep hill!) has gone up to 80p and the "standard" trip to the city now costs £2.20 - it was £2.
£4.40 return trip almost makes it worth taking the car and paying for parking!!!
Northern Rail are no longer run by First, they are run by Serco NedRail a consortium of Serco who ran Manchester Metro in an appalling manner and Dutch State Railways.
As for bus fares,I think I'll move to Sheffield! Locally it was £1.70 for 3 stops before the recent rise. I have walked since then.
